Supporting the 10,000 Electric Bus Target by 2030, INVI Expands EV Bus Deployment from Jakarta to West Kalimantan

Jakarta, May 2026 – PT Energi Makmur Buana (INVI) reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating transportation electrification in Indonesia through a series of strategic collaborations announced at Busworld Southeast Asia 2026. From supporting TransJakarta’s target of deploying 10,000 electric buses by 2030, to expanding intercity electric bus (AKAP) services in West Kalimantan and developing future EV talent through the INVI Technician Academy, these initiatives represent INVI’s ongoing efforts to build an integrated commercial electric vehicle ecosystem across the country.

Speaking at the conference session titled “Powering Electric Bus in Indonesia: Electric Bus is Becoming Part of Energy Resilience and Economic Competitiveness,” INVI President Director Alif Sasetyo emphasized that electric buses are no longer merely part of the decarbonization agenda, but have become a strategic component in strengthening Indonesia’s energy resilience and economic competitiveness.

“Transportation electrification is not simply about replacing conventional vehicles with electric ones. More importantly, it is about building a sustainable ecosystem that supports long-term operations—from vehicles, charging infrastructure, and aftersales services to the readiness of skilled human resources. As the transportation sector seeks greater operational efficiency while strengthening national energy resilience, electric vehicles have become an increasingly relevant solution. Collaboration, therefore, is essential to accelerating EV adoption in Indonesia,” said Alif Sasetyo.

This commitment was reinforced through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between INVI, PT Kalista Nusa Armada (KALISTA Group), and three TransJakarta operators: PT Biro Perjalanan Wisata Pahala Kencana, PT Bayuholong Persada, and Koperasi Jasa Angkutan Arief Rachman Hakim (Kopang ARH). The collaboration represents a strategic step toward supporting TransJakarta’s target of electrifying more than 10,000 buses by 2030 through an integrated ecosystem involving vehicle suppliers, operators, charging infrastructure, and operational services.

INVI’s commitment to transportation electrification extends beyond urban public transit. The company believes that the benefits of electric mobility can also be realized across other transportation segments, ranging from intercity services to industrial mobility.

As part of this commitment, INVI is expanding electric vehicle implementation into the intercity transportation sector through the signing of an MoU with PT Borneo Trans Mandiri. Under this collaboration, electric coach services are targeted to commence operations in mid-2026 on the Pontianak–Sintang route in West Kalimantan, supported by charging infrastructure that has been prepared in Pontianak, Sanggau, and Sintang.

This initiative marks one of the first steps toward developing electric intercity bus services in West Kalimantan, demonstrating how transportation electrification is evolving beyond urban public transit into long-distance passenger transportation.

In the industrial sector, INVI also handed over a 12-meter EV Coach to PT Multi Lintas Persada to support employee shuttle operations in the Cilegon industrial area. This deployment represents one of the early implementations of electric buses for industrial mobility in the region, reflecting the growing adoption of commercial EVs across multiple sectors.

To support these implementations, INVI showcased its lineup of HIGER commercial electric vehicles, designed to serve various operational needs ranging from urban public transportation and intercity travel to industrial mobility. As the official distributor of HIGER in Indonesia, INVI not only supplies electric vehicles but also ensures the readiness of the supporting ecosystem required for reliable long-term operations.

This approach has already demonstrated promising results. Based on operational trials of HIGER electric buses in the Trans Semarang service, the buses achieved potential energy cost savings of up to 51% compared with conventional fuel-powered buses on daily operations. These findings demonstrate that electric buses not only contribute to emissions reduction but also enable operators to achieve more efficient and predictable operating costs over the long term.

Amid the evolving energy landscape and increasing demand for transportation efficiency, these economic benefits are becoming a key driver for EV adoption across various transportation sectors.

To further enhance fleet reliability, INVI also launched the HIGER Free Service Program, offering complimentary periodic maintenance for up to five years or 300,000 kilometers. The program is designed to help operators maintain optimal vehicle performance while providing greater certainty over maintenance costs throughout the vehicle’s operational lifecycle.

INVI’s commitment to ensuring successful EV implementation was also highlighted during the talk show “Synergy Towards 100% Electric Public Transportation,” which brought together key stakeholders from across the industry. During the discussion, INVI reaffirmed its role as an end-to-end solution provider, offering services that include operational assessment, vehicle and charging infrastructure recommendations, aftersales support, spare parts availability, technician training, and operational assistance for commercial electric vehicles.

Through this comprehensive approach, INVI ensures that every EV implementation extends beyond vehicle procurement by delivering long-term operational readiness tailored to customers’ specific needs.

As part of its contribution to developing Indonesia’s electric vehicle industry, INVI also organized Student Day, attended by students from Politeknik Negeri Jakarta. Participants had the opportunity to gain hands-on exposure to electric bus technology, vehicle electrical systems, EV components, and the advanced technologies featured in modern electric buses.

Through the INVI Technician Academy, the company also provides opportunities for young talents to develop the technical competencies required by Indonesia’s rapidly growing electric vehicle industry. The program forms part of INVI’s broader commitment to building a skilled workforce capable of supporting the long-term growth of the national EV ecosystem.
